Camino Frances – Santiago di Compostela

Route

The most famous way of St. James to the grave of the apostle Jakob in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, is the Camino Frances. If the legs of the holy Jakob are really located and buried in Santiago, is not scientifically proven.

The Camino Frances stretches from St. Jean Pied de Port near the bottom of Pyrenees over 774 km through Spain, before it touches Santiago de Compostela. While doing this he passes through multiple regions and climatic zones.
Caused by its fame, this way of St .James is the most crowded one. Accomedation and signs aren`t short, therefore there is no need for fear of getting lost or too long day routes on the Camino Frances.

This Way of St. James is to be seen as a easy to medium level and therefore it suits as well for beginners. Caused by the pilgrim crowds, especially on the last 100km, is the main season in summer good to avoid. In the winter season you should be aware that not all of the accommodations are opened.
